FWGE Day 12: A Tale of Two by Tukur Ridwan

two lovers are warriors
holding each other's hearts
like weapons to fight their inner demons

to obliterate the storm
threatening their inner peace—
an unforseen tempest
in the middle of their voyage

when he is burning through
the rays of his sunny day,

she breaks his sun into stars at night

(even science watches her in awe)

stars that illuminate their path
without the heat of discomfort—

their nights in wet seasons make torrents
feel like eden dreams—

sleep feels like graceful death

when she walks through
the thick darkness of her night in fear

like a nocturnal prey, like rodents
at the sight of snakes & cats

he dissolves the shade with a tint of dawn
like milk poured in a black tea

she helps him see hope through the sun's eyes

he helps her brace up through the nights horror

two lovers are angels
breaking each other's dark wings

& watch these feathers fall one by one
like autumn leaves.
